Dancing...Yeah....

I love my new electronic keyboard cum synthesizer that Mummy & Daddy got for me. I can play the keyboard, percussion and select my favourite beat of the moment from the beatbox. The fun part is remembering the beats and choreographing the dance moves for each beat.

Ok, lets select a beat and see what we have. Oooh! The Tango!

Fun at PlayDays!

I have been enjoying classes at my weekend playgroup @ PlayDays for the past 7 weeks. (All thanks to Mummy! Thanks for the sponsorship! heehee) I can't believe how fast the term has flown by and now there are just 2 more lessons left. It has been such a fun experience learning about fruits and vegetables - especially the food tasting (yes, we got to try all the fruits & vegetables covered) and arts & craft sessions (which incorporate the fruits/vegetables in one way or another).

Here are some highlights from the past weeks...

Banana Week

Ta-da! My finished artwork!

Potato Week

Here's my good friend Garreth looking pensive before our teachers dished out the hash browns for us to try.

I really don't like hash browns though. (Hmm, I think I heard Mummy breathe a sigh of relief!)

The calm before the storm...those unsuspecting potatoes...they never saw it coming...

Stripped down for the sake of art. Ha! Press and Chop!

I'm 15 months old!

This past month saw me adding more skills to my repertoire, particularly in the vocalizing words. I also had a particularly uncomfortable episode of teething were I had 8 teeth (my molars) all cutting out of my gums at once. Ouch! Luckily that is now behind me and I can continue to chomp on my favourite foods. I'm also getting more assertive in enforcing my independence (which in Mummy's, Daddy's, and all my grandparents opinion = I'm getting more naughty!)

Motor skills
- Getting more confident in walking down steps whilst assisted
- Walking backwards
- Turning around on the spot
- Can climb over and ride on all movable toys
- Able to throw a ball overhand
- Is able to open all doors confidently

Hand & Finger Skills
- Building a tower of 4 blocks
- More purposeful in his painting or colouring activities
- Able to use a fork to feed unassisted.
- Sorting more shapes using the shape sorter without assistance: Oval, Semi-circle
- Brush teeth

Language
- My new words this month (that are used on a consistent basis) are: No, Come,Please, Yes, Good, Mum(for mummy), hi, Hello, boo ,bounce O (for orange), ish (for fish), Bye bye and his all time favourite at the moment "Uh-Oh".
- Starting to recognize letters of the Alphabets and pronounce the associated phonic sounds: Q
- More Animal sounds: Cat goes Meow, Dog goes Oof. (no W yet.) haha

Cognitive
- Knows the meaning of Hard and Soft when touching objects.
- Actions:
a) Knows that if he throws a ball and it hits the wall, it will bounce back to him. When it is rolling back towards him, he will say "come, come" and gesture with his hand.
b) Knows how to hide from sight and say "boo" when he reappears
c) Colour identification: yellow and blue
d) Knows Left from Right
e) Knows when something is wrong (eg: he will throw a ball under a table purposefully and when it is hidden or in a place it is not supposed to be, he will say "Uh-Oh")
f) Has distinct dancesteps for different beats (and remembers the same actions each time)

Social
- Has become more assertive
- not so friendly to strangers as before (is discerning in who he blows a kiss to or waves to)
- Gets bored easily

Emotional
- Tendency to cry to get his way. (currently undergoing training by Mummy to help me manage my emotions better and learn that I cannot always get what I want all the time.)

Chinese New Year!

This Chinese New Year really past by in a blur as we had just arrived back from Club Med Bintan just a few days prior. Nevertheless, we really soaked in the atmosphere with Mummy & Daddy busy with spring cleaning and decorating whilst I familiarized myself with the songs and actions!

This year, Mummy and I were decked out in red. Don't I look handsome?

What a difference a year makes. Last CNY, I could hardly lift my head properly and now here I am running around with oranges, "Gong Xi"ing everyone and collecting Ang Pao. haha. I think I could get used to this...

The longest "Gong Xi" this CNY season was for Grand-Ma.

I also offered my parents a pair of prosperous oranges for good luck!

Aren't these festive flowers just so pretty. I wanted to offer them some water with the watering can. Oops, now you know how that little puddle on the floor came about.

All in all, we had plenty of fun visiting relatives and playing with my cousins. Here I am with Granny and Grand-Dad. And this was the start of the afternoon itinerary after my nap. Goodness! Better tell everyone who wants me to visit to tell Mummy in advance so that she can work out a more efficient schedule. What a fun but tiring day...
