My new milestones

  • Riding a Tricycle

Mummy & Daddy got me a nice sturdy tricycle for Christmas and so in the new year, I have been hard at work practising on getting from point A to point B on my new bike.

Mummy decided to film me one Saturday when Daddy was at work so that she could showcase my progress. Not to bad considering its my 2nd time on my bike. But these practice sessions don't last for long as I get a little impatient and conclude that running around would be much faster.

  • Learning Mandarin

Mummy and Daddy have been nothing short of amazed at my progress in learning Mandarin at school. Now I can name some body parts in Chinese such as ear, mouth, eye, nose. I have also managed to learn the full first verse of "Gong Xi Gong Xi".

  • Potty Training

I'm now more willing to sit on the potty and am able to produce "results" on demand but only for pee though...I still am in denial when it comes to poop and I love to expound the convenience of diapers to my loved ones. Who needs a potty when you have diapers right? What a hard argument to drive home. When will Mummy and Daddy ever give up? =P

Happy Birthday to...

This month truly is a month of birthdays! First up is Grand-dad's 60th birthday which we celebrated at Hua Ting@Orchard Hotel. What a feast we had too! Good choice of restaurant Granny. =) We started off our meal with the customary longevity buns.

Of course, my favourite part of the meal was singing the "Happy Birthday" song and the blowing of the candles on Grand-dad's cake. What fun! Now whenever Mummy mentions that its someone's birthday, I always ask where is the cake and candles.

I behaved extraordinarily well considering that we only got home at 9.30pm when my usual bedtime is at 8.30pm so I guess today is really a special day. Happy Birthday Grand-Dad!

Where did you go this weekend Ethan?

This was the question my teachers asked me in school and I promptly replied " The Bird Park". And to think my grandma thought I was pulling her leg. I can only imagine the look on her face when Daddy told her that we indeed went to the Bird Park last week.

Daddy decided to spring this surprise visit as encouragement for being so well behaved and adapting well to school. Come to think of it, our last visit here was nearly 1 year ago during CNY last year and what a difference a year makes! This time round I'm able to pick up specific names such as flamingo, pelican, lory eagle & vulture and even distinguish between the different birds.

I even enjoyed myself immensely at the "Birds of Prey" show and kept on looking where the eagles and vultures will fly from next. I even gave them a round of applause to show my appreciation after the birds demonstrated their tricks. Daddy & Mummy were really surprised that I could follow the host's commentary so much so that I even laughed at appropriate moments. Maybe its time to invest in a friend of the zoo pass once my baby brother is born.

Here we are at the African Aviary and Lory Loft.

And finally a proud moment for me as I conquered my fear and confidently crossed the suspension bridge. What a fun afternoon at the bird park! No wonder I have been asking Mummy and Daddy if I can go back for another visit soon.

Adventures in the New Year

I have started school this year at Mindchamps Preschool @ Tanglin in Nursery 1. I'm the second youngest in class but that has not stopped me from being one of the tallest and most vocal in class. Here I am decked out in my new uniform. Mummy decided to get me the PE kit as its dri-fit and looks more comfortable than the formal uniform.

School was definitely a big step for me considering that I just turned 2 but with lots of love, prayer and support from my entire family, I'm slowly settling down into the routine of going to school and beginning to enjoy myself. Mummy hopes that I will learn to be more independent this year as well as enhance my social skills. I guess she needs someone to help show the way for my little brother once he arrives...

Looking at how far I have come in just these 2 weeks, Mummy and Daddy decided to reward me with a fun outing to Hort Park. They also wanted to get me to have fun playing with sand as I was a little apprehensive during sand play at school.

But of course, my favourite activity has to be the See-Saw and other rides...the glee on my face just says it all. Let's hope that more visits to Hort Park are in store this year. =)

The last present this Christmas...a Conrad stay

Daddy took a long deciding on his Christmas present from Mummy this year and finally he decided that he wanted a nice hotel weekend break. Next, was the shortlisting of hotels and miraculously we managed to book ourselves for a festive offer at the Conrad Centennial Suite with Executive Floor privileges! Down at the lobby, I was already admiring the Christmas tree made of Conrad bears so imagine my glee that I find not 1, not 2 but 3 bears waiting for me in our suite!

We also loved the little touches that Conrad put in for families such as baby size conrad slippers! Aren't they the cutest thing you've seen?

Mummy and Daddy were a little worried at first about sneaking me up to the Executive Floor as there was a no children policy but luckily there were like-minded young families and we noisy ones had part of the club floor to ourselves.

So before cocktails started, we bought our tickets for the Singapore Duck Tour and off we went in beautiful weather. I can tell you, it is quite exhilarating to see my favourite Flyer and IR from another perspective. I also enjoyed myself on my first boat ride that Mummy & Daddy are considering bringing me on more in future.

Here I am totally refreshed the next day, all set to go exploring around the esplanade. My new favourite hobby is to spot all the "Duck Tours" as they travel around the esplanade area.

Before we checked out, we had a little time to explore the new indoor play area in Marina Square. Here I am having fun with some little friends.

What a fun weekend to start the year!
